K- Mart
The 12,923m2 K Mart warehouse is an outstanding example of how excellence in concrete flooring contributes to the overall efficiency and productivity of a warehouse for the tenant. The design and construction have enhanced the value of the building to the owner with a highly durable concrete surface with low maintenance, flexible for any change in use and with a gloss that is attractive to future tenants.
New Zealands largest commercial property owner, Goodman, notes that: "Having a long lasting, durable warehouse slab that will stand up to the hard use of industrial tenants is imperative to all Goodman's estates. In the case of the K-Mart Distribution Centre, Goodman required minimal joints to meet the operating needs of K-Mart and their material handling equipment."
The post tensioned internal floor was constructed to meet the flatness requirements of the European racking Code EN15620 Class FM2. Externally the 11,333square metre steel fibre reinforced yard slab was designed to take stacked 40' containers and the loading from the straddle carrier used for handling them.
FM2 will allow Goodman to close up the rack spacing in future with minimal grinding necessary to bring the slab to a defined movement specification.
The excellent gloss and light colouring of the floor in combination with clear roof sheeting reduces the lighting requirements of the warehouse.
The 40 Mpa concrete, highly burnished and well cured has excellent abrasion resistance.
