Fonterra Takanini perhaps bests encapsulates Conslabs ability to provide top end flooring solutions to a client. This contract required the removal of the existing 2000m2 floor in 5 stages and replacing it with a new crack free hygienic topping. Dave Francis of Beca had arrived at the only solution being a crack induced but fully tied system with a semi-flexible topping over to provide the hygiene requirement.

Working with Beca and H&R Conslab refined the design including undertaking testing at Auckland Universities Material Testing laboratory to provide assurance of the crack spanning abilities of the material, we refined the proprietary crack induced system to suit the design and used options such as thermally cracking the slab to ensure a fully cracked system.

The final result had two cracks only in the topping from stage 1 which resulted in refinements to subsequent stages and no further cracking.
